Are you trying to decide on going out or staying in this New Year’s Eve? As a pro DJ for the past 20 plus years, I have some advise to offer from experience. The streets will be full of people making their merry way and trying to get in their final indulgences before the clock strikes midnight. Sure, there are lots of parties out there that you could show up at, and multiple bars or restaurants you could patron, but here is a list of reasons why you could have more fun ringing in the new year at home:
- Less Pressure – Most of the time, the build-up to nights like these play out less grandly than expected. Expectations are high to have the most fun possible and we tend to eat more, drink more and spend more than we normally would. With a few friends or family members around you, it could be a lot less pressure and a lot more fun.
- Less Stress - With Christmas celebrations behind us, we tend to plan New Year’s Eve hurriedly and at the last moment. Staying home will avoid the scramble to find bars, restaurants, clubs or parties to attend that won’t be insanely packed.
- Stay Warm – Most parts of the country are in the middle of winter on December 31st. That could mean snow, ice, and wind that could make your venture out miserable. If you stay home on New Year’s Eve, you are sure to be toasty warm in whatever outfit you decide to showcase as you countdown the year.
- Stay Safe – New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest times for bars, clubs, and highways. The roads may be snowy and icy and may, unfortunately, be full of intoxicated drivers. At home, you get to play your very own bartender and avoid the masses who can’t handle their booze.
So, take the pressure of yourself about where to go this New Years Eve. Have a few neighbors over and ring in the new year comfortably and safe.
